ANNE MITCHENER
EXECUTIVE COACH

I am a professionally trained and accredited  Executive Coach and a Consultant Neurosurgeon specialising in spine. What I offer, as a coach, is to assist people generally, across a broad spectrum, to improve work performance and achievement. Specifically this may be to explore and find resilience strategies for successful people in order that they can maintain high level performance over time. But equally it could be to assist people back to more effective and rewarding work after a career break, possibly health related. Alternatively it may be to identify the challenges required to enable progress in an existing business, step up to a particular role or realise a completely new ambition.

I qualified in Psychology in 1979 at University College London and followed this with a PhD at the Institute of Psychiatry (University of London), awarded in 1983. I subsequently qualified in medicine from the University of Cambridge (Downing College and New Addenbrooke's Hospital) in 1986. I have lived and worked abroad. I worked as a neurosurgeon for 4 years in Norway before returning to work in London and Surrey in 2006. I speak Norwegian, French and Spanish.

I am passionate and committed to whatever I do, solutions-focussed and I have found natural resilience as a working woman. Furthermore, consistent with the goal of coaching, I am naturally positive and forward looking and developed sustainability through experience. I have raised a family in parallel with my career, overcoming all the challenges this presents and as a female in a male-dominated work place. It is no surprise therefore that I have a particular interest and personal strength in supporting women to successfully negotiate the challenges of career and motherhood, having experience of this at home and abroad.

Throughout my life I have worked with people in a caring capacity which is why coaching is a natural extension of my careerand possibly why I enjoy working with people returning to the work place following a period of ill health. Currently alongside my spinal practice I coach the banking community in the City, educationalists in Surrey, CEOs of other companies and individuals from highly varied backgrounds and business. I am an associate partner working in the Private Client practice of a coaching company providing a specialist coaching service to artists, celebrities and high profile individuals in diverse fields such as business, music, entertainment and sports. For many of the people listed above, the focus is to acknowledge success and develop resilience, in order to sustain a high level of performance over time.

I am personally very familiar with the requirement  to fulfil this  aspiration.
